The proposal for Parlington consists of 6 residences. Responding
to the surrounding suburban scale and streetscape vegetation, while acknowledging the significant historical context.
Particular emphasis has been placed on a design which personalises each of the six townhouses. Each possessing its own identity through facade treatment, interior programme and generous north facing outdoor space. The building form recessed from the street front to enable substantial
planting and green spaces within.
The architectural expression of the scheme follows the principle of adapting the historical context of Canterbury with a restrained modern gesture. Creating a familiar modern aesthetic that compliments the adjacent historic residence and adds a
vibrant take on Canterbury’s streetscape.
