"A significant addition to Fortitude Valley, this BTR scheme splits forms in the tower language."

About the Project

The design is inspired by Brisbane's natural landscape where two distinct volumes with strong horizontal lines and soft curves take inspiration from the movement of water of the nearby creek line. The waves become less distinct as the building projects into the sky revealing the upper tower as a refined, softly curved silhouette. The decision to break the overall form into three horizontal elements reduces visual bulk to create an integrated connection between the industrial, organic form below and the contemporary structure above. The central vertically landscaped spine provides a break in the overall width of the tower and flows down to the heavily planted podium which unifies the building.

"Half of the ground level is given over to public space interfacing with the three abutting streets."

03
About the Project

The ground level is set back significantly providing the opportunity for street activation and areas for public occupation. Bright, permeable materials combined with considered retail spaces create an inviting undercroft that welcomes pedestrian access and engages with the public realm. This is complemented by abundant tropical planting along with harder landscaping, including seating areas and bike racks. Canopies on Anderson Street and Costin Street shelter and enhance the streetscape, improving the pedestrian experience.
