The Oaks
Located in an area of future densification and renewal, the development breaks ground through efficient yet sensitive planning to propose a design which successfully integrates with historic Berwick Town Centre & pedestrian retail zones, whilst offering dwellings with a high level of design amenity.
"The English Oak tree is central to every building response."
To Gloucester Avenue, the form draws on well-defined existing scale and rhythm of Berwick Village. The four functions of the building are given a unique entry point, enhancing the sense of ownership & privacy for the residents, retailer & commercial operator.
Masonry was used extensively to the street interface, providing a sense of permanence and solidity. Brick detailing in conjunction with contemporary steel fenestration & canopy elements elevate the traditional proportions of the facade, while variance in tone give a sense of separation to the residential entry, without interrupting the cohesive architectural form.
Beyond the street interface, the residential dwellings maximise site yield while providing high quality internal residential and office amenity through extensive northern aspects and opportunity for planting. This project exemplifies Telha Clarke’s enthusiasm to work closely with clients to break ground and push the boundaries.
