“Materiality of the Yarrawonga Clubhouse is directly connected to the palette of the landscape"
The Clubhouse is at the centre of the community and designed to be split into two buildings, one for wellness and the other for leisure. Both pavilions are surrounded by and connected to a heap of outdoor activity to choose from, including bowling and putting green, pickle ball court, community gardens and even a dog park. Pools, bars, and cinemas are also featured offering opportunities lifestyle and leisure.
"Connection between indoor and outdoor is the integral design strategy."
The clubhouse adopts a relatable yet refined architectural expression through the use of honest materials and carefully placed, formalised moments. Expressed masonry walls ground the buildings into the landscape, contrasting with a neutral render finish. The roof sits elevated from the verandah which wraps around the majority of the building line, encouraging residents to interact outdoor communal amenities as well as creating hierarchy of scale between the building and the surrounding native trees.
